Mother Mary Teresa, whose real name is Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, is an Indian Catholic nun and missionary of Albanian descent. She was born on August 26, 1910. She was born in Skopje, Albania, Ottoman Empire. She lived there until he was eighteen years old.
In 1926, he came to India through Ireland on a mission to spread Christianity. She stayed here for the rest of her life.
She trained as a nun for three years at the “Sisters of Loreto” Ashram in Darjeeling. She also learned Bengali so that she could work among the Bengali people. She then taught at St. Mary’s School in Calcutta. She worked there for 18 years.
Finally, in 1948, she left Loreto and began to serve the impoverished. She left the gown and wore a sari, a Bengali woman’s dress. She has never had more than three saris since then. One wear, one wash, and another suddenly needed or left for any occasion. She didn’t have money in her hand, but she felt love and strong self-confidence for the poor and miserable people.
She opened the first school in a dirty slum in Kolkata. She began to teach the alphabet by cutting spots on the ground. She opened a medical center to serve the sick. The scope of work began to increase day by day. Many more monks joined him. She set up “Missionaries of Charity” with them.
She set up a building called “Nirmal Hridoy” at Kalighat in Calcutta in 1952 to serve the dying helpless people. Stand by the helpless people on the sidewalks of Calcutta. She serves them with a pure heart.

She established “Shishu Bhavan” to shelter orphans picked up from the streets. Established “Navajivan Abas” for children with physical and mental disabilities. Made “Premnibas” for lepers.
During the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971, about one crore people took refuge in India; Mother Teresa served all those people. She first came to Bangladesh in 1972 after independence. She started service work for the “Missionaries of Charity” in Bangladesh. She established the first branch at Islampur in Dhaka and then established “Nirmal Hridoy” and “Shishu Bhavan” in Khulna, Barisal, and Sylhet.
She saw people as the greatest in service. She never considered the difference of religion, the difference of country, or the difference of nation. So she got the love of people of all religions of all countries. She has received many honors for her service work, the best of which is the Nobel Prize. She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979. She also donated money for the Nobel Prize to the poor.
Mother Teresa died on 5 September 1997 in Calcutta.
She has served people all her life and helped the helpless. People all over the world know this woman wearing a blue sari with a blue name. She will live in people’s minds all her life.
