Child health means the state of physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being of children. It doesn’t only mean the absence of diseases. Families, environments, and communities provide children the opportunity to reach their fullest development potential.

Child health forms the foundation for lifelong health, development, and overall well-being in adulthood. When a child’s health is nurtured properly and there are opportunities to gain habits that support good health during childhood, there are more chances to lead a healthy adulthood less likely to include chronic health problems such as obesity, poor oral health, diabetes, and other health problems.

Children are dependent on adults in their family and community for providing them optimal health. They need to get a proper environment in which they can learn and grow successfully. Children continuously grow physically and mentally.

Maternal health status, habits, and environment during and before pregnancy have a great role in the health of a child. For this reason, optimal child health is much dependent on the health and well-being of a child’s mother.

Health during childhood decides adulthood health. Healthy children are more likely to become healthy adults; that’s why it is much more important for a nation’s prosperity.

Child health care is medical services that are given to the children who have disease or infection. These services are provided by medical health professionals and various health organizations. There are varieties of physical, mental, and psychological health conditions that need special health care. There are ranges from mild to chronic and severe. These problems can include breathing, digestion, chronic pain, blood circulation, communicating, behavior, etc.

Children can face many common illnesses in childhood, and those are sore throat, ear pain, urinary tract infection, skin infection, bronchitis, pain, and the common cold.

Nearly 6 million children under the age of five die every year due to some killer diseases. And those are pneumonia, diarrhea, malaria, meningitis, and measles.

Prevention is important in keeping children away from diseases. Frequent hand washing helps to prevent the spread of many diseases. Children should also learn to avoid close contact with other people. They need to learn not to put their hands and non-food items in their mouth.

Parents can promote a healthy lifestyle to their children by teaching them to exercise, going outside with children, and teaching them safety rules. They should also make their children understand the harmful impacts of alcohol and cigarettes.
